Community Fundraising in Action - Our Workation 2025

How we used our own tool to do good, connect teams and live our vision

Team Building done differently. During our Workation we organised several Community Fundraisers, e.g. through a Donation Run and experienced our cool Koalect tool in real life.

The annual Workation at RaiseNow is not just a chance to collaborate on ideas, gain new perspectives and connect as a team – it’s also a place for experimentation, innovation and putting our vision into action. We’re excited to share that during our Workation in Bayreuth, RaiseNow raised €4,052.76 through our Community Fundraising projects – with over €3,756.76 coming from our charity run alone.

For many in the team, fundraising is part of their everyday work – through features, data models or onboarding support. But the actual experience of running a campaign is something few of us live first-hand. This was our chance to change that – and to show how Community Fundraising can thrive not only for clubs and NGOs, but also inside a company.

Many projects, one shared goal

Within just a few days, our employees set up unique fundraising projects – each supporting an organisation close to someone’s heart. The result: personal stories, creative ideas, and plenty of activity.

  • Charity Run with friends & family – We hosted the very first RaiseNow Charity Run during the Workation in Bayreuth. One kilometre laps, lots of sponsors, and even more motivation – running together for a shared cause. As a bonus RaiseNow decided to double all the amounts collected by the employees!

  • Glasweiher Clean Up – A team gathered at a local lake to remove litter and raise awareness for environmental protection – combining hands-on impact with fundraising.

  • 5K Run with a twist – A morning trail run with bootcamp-style partner exercises, music, and team spirit.

  • Quiz Night – A light-hearted evening of trivia where the winning team decided which organisation received the fundraising pot.

  • Mini challenges and community activities – From spontaneous initiatives to interactive calls-to-action, creativity turned into donations.

The organisations we supported

The fundraiser benefitted six wonderful organisations – all RaiseNow customers – working for people, animals, and the environment:

  • Cruz Roja Española (Red Cross Spain): Part of the global Red Cross movement, providing vital humanitarian aid in Spain and beyond.

  • Kinderhilfe Bethlehem: Founded in 1963 as a Swiss-German initiative, the organisation supports children’s health in Bethlehem, with offices in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy.

  • OceanCare: Dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans and marine life, combining passion, expertise and persistence for healthy seas.

  • Te Gek!? (Belgium): Breaking taboos around mental health by raising awareness and creating space for open dialogue.

  • Trees for the Future: Fighting hunger, poverty and environmental degradation by working with farmers to restore land and rebuild food systems.

  • Tierheim Strubeli: An animal shelter in Switzerland offering adoption, sponsorships, and long-term support for animals in need.

Why RaiseNow & Community Fundraising are the perfect match

Community Fundraising stands for shared responsibility, low-barrier participation and the motivation to create impact together. These values are at the heart of RaiseNow – in our products and in how we work.

Our vision is to make effective fundraising accessible for organisations of all sizes. With Koalect, now part of RaiseNow for more than two years, this vision becomes reality. Running our own fundraiser was both inspiring and fun – and clear proof that Community Fundraising works in every setting.

The possibilities for Community Fundraising projects are virtually limitless: from social engagement through sport challenges (charity runs, triathlons, hikes) to birthday campaigns (“donations instead of gifts”), anniversaries and personal milestones (weddings, company celebrations, retirements). It also includes employee giving, product sales and charity shops, ticketing for events, crowdfunding with a defined goal, or crowdvoting without financial involvement. Our Workation projects showed just how diverse and creative these formats can be.

How Community Fundraising works in practice

With the RaiseNow Community Fundraising tool, organisations enable supporters to create their own fundraising projects and share them with their networks to collect donations. Setting up a project is quick and only takes a few minutes. Once registered, supporters can design a personalised fundraising page – just like our employees did during the Workation.

Connecting people – inside and out

The fundraiser achieved more than an impressive donation total. It connected teams, opened perspectives and made the impact of our work tangible. Whether developer, customer success manager or designer – everyone could see the real-time effect of our platform, used for a cause they personally care about. Community Fundraising is about enabling people who support and believe in non-profits to become fundraisers themselves. With our tool, that’s easy and straightforward – as our Workation experiment showed.

The Community Fundraiser at the Workation was more than an internal test. It was an invitation to live our values: making an impact, activating people, and simplifying processes. The format brought employer branding, product usage and purpose together in a single moment – with joy, ease and meaning. We are proud that the Koalect platform enables exactly these kinds of projects – whether in a local club, a community, or a company. And we are delighted that our team’s initiative supported six fantastic organisations working for the environment, society, animals and mental health.
